The way of the Pirate
This page will cover pirates, Brawlers and GunSlingers.
Strength- anything Dexterity- anything, the higher the better. Int-4 Luk-4 Brawler, DEX should be your Level, the rest Str. Gunners, Str should be your level, the rest Dex. You can be either Dexless, Low dex, Reg Dex if you are a brawler. You can be either Strless, Low str, Reg Str if you are a gunner. if you are a gunner, I recommend you be Strless, therefore, you do a lot of damage, but you can't wear guns except for maple guns. If you are a brawler I DO NOT RECCOMEND YOU BE Dexless. Because Brawlers have VERY LOW accuracy, they miss all the time. Dex will affect your accuracy. Being Low-Dex is a good idea, you should cap it at 65.
BRAWLER
The main reason why anyone would ever want to become a pirate is simply the innovation of the Class. This is the only Maple Story job up to now that has not been released along with it's original version, three years ago. This makes pirates the newest and more interesting MS class we have. So, what's the basic difference between a Brawler and a Gunslinger? Aside from being one a close combatent and the other a long-range shooter, Brawlers have more mobbing skills, and their skill deal huge amounts of damage, but these are also really slow skills, with long animations (as Dragon Strike) or cooldown time (Cockscrew Punch is one). On the other hand, Gunslingers are fast and shoot almost as many bullets per second as a Sin, but their skills have low damage. In the end, Brawlers have as many Damage Points per Second as a Gunslinger has, but the Gunslinger is a more expensive (high level bullets) and harder to train job. Also, why to become an Area Brawler (which deals more area damage) rather than a 1v1 Brawler (which deals more single-enemy damage)? Simply because the area skills are much better than the 1v1 skills. Compare, for example, Flash Fist, that deals 270% damage to one foe, with Sommersault Kick, that deals almost 200% damage to six monsters. Let's face the facts, until really high levels, you will not kill any hard bosses at all (mostly because you will train on CPQ, not LPQ) Also, being able to kill many monsters at once makes you level much faster. This might seem odd, but there is not much difference between a Pirate and a Thief. First of all, each one has a Long-range and a Short-range attacking path. Second, Gunslingers use bullets in a similar way to a Sin's Stars, having even a skill that allows each of them to carry more of a certaing projectile. Third, Brawlers use Knuckles, usually Fast or Normal short-range weapons, which can be compared with a Bandit's daggers.10 - Sommersault Kick [1] 11 - Sommersault Kick [4] 12 - Sommersault Kick [7] 13 - Sommersault Kick [10] 14 - Sommersault Kick [13] 15 - Sommersault Kick [16] 16 - Sommersault Kick [19] 17 - Sommersault Kick [20] + Bullet Time [2] 18 - Bullet Time [5] 19 - Bullet Time [8] 20 - Bullet Time [11] 21 - Bullet Time [14] 22 - Bullet Time [17] 23 - Bullet Time [20] 24 - Flash Fist [3] 25 - Flash Fist [6] 26 - Flash Fist [9] 27 - Flash Fist [12] 28 - Flash Fist [15] 29 - Flash Fist [18] 30 - Flash Fist [20] + Double Shot [1]It is highly recommended that you do NOT put any points on dash, even though you'll have an extra point on level 30. This is because you might press the arrow key twice while training or doing stuff like jumping on Party Quests. This will drain your MP. First off, Marauders have PLENTY of choices when they hit marauder, there are so many combinations which you can make. Marauder is kinda like preparing for Bucc, because when you reach Bucc you will definetly be using most of these skills. By the time you hit 120, you’ll have all Marauder skills BUT Energy Drain or Shockwave maxed. The order is very important as it determines how fast you train. IF YOU ENJOY MOBBING Level 70 – Energy Charge (1) Level 74 – Energy Charge (13) Level 81 – Energy Blast (21) [It can hit 4 monsters from this level] If you enjoy mobbing, which is really what marauders were desinged for, the energy skills are great to start of with. The thing with Energy blast is you can only use it when you have energy charge. To get energy charge up, you need to fill this blue bar, the higher the level the better the charge rate, which is why you’ll need to charge to a level where you can fill the bar quickly to be able to use charge. After Blast, you have a choice of maxing either Charge or Blast. You can Max charge then max blast, or max blast then max charge. Its really your choice, I maxed Charge then Blast, if you enjoy both skills why not add them together. [2+ Charge, 1+Blast per level could even work too]. When you’ve maxed the two main energy skills you’re left with, Energy Drain, Stun Mastery and Shockwave (Transform too, but leave that for last). - Energy drain is great if you want to save those extra HP pots by spamming drain. It also works great at bosses, drain can be spammed pretty quickly which makes it pretty good. - Stun Mastery on the other hand is great to, definetly if you’re planning to newt during the 1XX Stun will be your asset, and you would be able to kill the Newties quicker with Stun. - Shock is fantastic too, it will become very useful at Himes, only problem is you mightn’t use Shock when you hit Bucc, which could be a waste of skill points IF YOU ENJOY ONE ON ONE COMBAT Level 70 – Stun Mastery (1) Level 77 – Stun Mastery (20, MAXED) Level 81 – Energy Charge (13) Stun Mastery is a great skill if you are into training monsters one at a time, okay you might think its slow, but if you can backspin and then double uppercut then KILL the monster believe me thats pretty quick training. This skull build will help you train at places like Gobies, Wyverns and Newties. After you max Stun, it would be best if you moved onto energy charge, this will increase your damage in a short amount of time, and it can give you some extra bonuses like +ACC and +STANCE. After Level 81, you should go with blast or charge, like I said earlier, its your choice on how you raise the level. Whatever you do, BOTH need to be maxed next. It might be ideal to get Blast to 21, so you can hit 4 mobs and then go back to energy charge. After the charge skills are done, you shsould be left with Shockwave, Drain and Transform. Its really your choice with how you go upon this, Transform will be maxed, but save it for last. Make sure you got at least 1 point in each skill, and just test the skills, if you like drain, okay max drain, but if you prefer shockwave go for shpockwave. Although with the KMST update shockwave becomes useless, although that wont happen for awhile. By the end of this build you should have at least 21 Shock and Max drain OR, Max Shock and 11 Drain! IF YOU ENJOY SHOCKWAVE Level 70 – Transform (1) Level 80 – Shockwave (30) Level 90 – Your choice Stun Mastery or Charge and Blast I really wouldny reccomend this build, but if you’re someone who wants to add that fun in their training this build really gives it. Shockwave is a VERY strong skill, with its max damage being 720% Shockwave is definetly a skill which gives the real numbers. However, shockwave can only be used during transform, so with level 1 transform you gotta wait anotrher 6 minutes. Training for 2 minutes, and then 6 minutes isnt the best. Also with the new KMST updates, Shockwave becomes obsolete, as you can use other skills when you’re in the transformed state. Its your choice, Max shock or not, if you dont want to max it but stil go shockwave first, LEAVE it at level 21. After shockwave like I said earlier you can go Stun Mastery or Charge and Blast, its it really depends on how you train, and what you enjoy training. Mobs(Like Typhons) = Charge, 1 v 1 (Like Newts) = Stun Mastery. With that said by the time you reach level 120 you should have the following: MAX Stun Mastery MAX Energy Blast MAX Energy Charge MAX Transformation MAX Shockwave OR Level 21 Shockwave MAX Drain or Level 11 Drain. So what build is for you? I went for the charge and blast build, i found it made training alot quicker as I was able to kill those monsters very quickly with the help of blast. But I’ll leave it to you its really how you want to play, DONT forget to add a point in all skills so you can experience what each skill is like before you choose one. xcxrxexdxixtxsxtxoxixpxuxnxcxhxexmx <- LMFAO GUNSLINGERSPROS OF A GUNSLINGER ==================== -Fast Attack -Fun to play -Has skills that can be used CLOSE-RANGED -Can summon without using stones -Can ride on a mini pirate ship -Gunslingers are extremely uncommon -Bullets are not as expensive as shurikens. -Has a great variety of bullets, including FIRE and ICE. CONS OF A GUNSLINGER ==================== -Can't dish out damage that makes you go WHAT THE HELL?! -Bullets are still EXPENSIVE -Rapid Fire makes bullets run out like water. -Doesn't have any strengths -Damage WAY TOO STABLE COMPARING WITH ASSASSINS ======================== Assassins are the other type of ranged jump-attackers. How ever, their shurikens cost amounts of money that will make your cower in fear. On the other hand, bullets are cheap because of the monsters that drop them. Packs of lvl 70 bullets can cost as low as 99k! Another thing is that assassins only get 1 attacking skill until 4th job, while gunslingers have a variety of skills that gives them an edge on both crowd and single monsters. Don't think assassins are weak, though, because they have critical hit and their main attacks are based on luck. Plus, they have AWESOME money saver skills like alchemist, and drain. Overall, gunslingers are strange people because you can see shadows of other classes in a gunslingers. For example, you can see the assassin's jump attack and shurikens in gunslingers but you can also see the bowman's bomb arrow in gunslingers because of Blank Shot. Gunslingers are also really unique, like the ability to perform Hit-and-Run strikes* and also sail on a mini battleship shooting cannons.10- Double Shot -1 11- Double Shot - 4 12- Double Shot - 7 13- Double Shot - 10 14- Double Shot - 13 15- Double Shot - 16 16- Double Shot - 19 17- Double Shot - 20(MAX) + Dash - 2 18- Dash - 5 19- Dash - 8 20- Dash - 10 (MAXED) + Bullet Time - 1 21- Bullet Time - 4 22- Bullet Time - 7 23- Bullet Time - 10 24- Bullet Time - 13 25- Bullet Time - 16 26- Bullet Time - 19 27- Bullet Time -20 (MAX) + Sommersalt Kick - 2 28- Sommersalt Kick - 5 29- Sommersalt Kicl - 8 30- Sommersalt Kick - 11First, you should max invisible shot because it will be very useful in carnival PQ's and will help you train. While you're at it, put one point on Blank Shot because it can save your life during carnival PQ's. Once you max invisible shot, go straight to mastery. Get that to 5. After that, add booster to 12. After that, go straight for Recoil Shot and Blank Shot. MAX mastery after that, then MAX booster. Any left over points can be put on grenade or wings. Following the distribution guide at the top, you can customize your character a bit. For example, I chose not to max Wings but Blank Shot. It's your choice. You can even max mastery first, considering the bullet amount and accuracy increase. This recommended order is just for fast leveling. YOU SHOULDN'T FOLLOW IT COMPLETELY. Just add first what you think will be useful for you to level faster.First, you should max invisible shot because it will be very useful in carnival PQ's and will help you train. Gaviota never listens to you and always flies away. The only reason to max it is that if Gaviota actually do bombard the enemy, then the enemy would take incredible amounts of damage. Just make sure it's 15 or over.
